Live at the knitting factory

Legendary electronic music composer/ improviser PBK will make his New York debut at The Knitting Factory Alterknit Theatre on Saturday November 28, 1998 with his newest Detroit based project Acclimate. The evening, which marks the inauguration of the Harsh House experimental music and media label, will also feature performances by guitarist/ composer Damian Catera and his N. Y. based group ConDemek. The show begins at 9pm.

PBK (aka Phillip Klinger) has been active in the underground electronic music scene for over a decade and has performed throughou t the United States as well as in Europe. Drawing from a diversity of influences from free Jazz to Musique Concrete he has had several internationally distributed and reviewed releases on a variety of labels including ND, RRR and Silent. His current ambient project, Acclimate is a genre bending collaboration with cousin Artemis K featuring multiple textures of manipulated analog, tape based, and digital sounds.

ConDemek has been together since 1986 putting their distinct touch on multimedia performance and experimentation. Currently, the group consists of Catera ( guitar and programming), Roxanne Benedetto, (voice and guitar) and Steve Lombardi (sound manipulations). ConDemek toured the US for the first time earlier this year, sharing stages with the Ex as well as Otomo Yoshihide. The most recent ConDemek Cd Technological ShackJob was released by the German Tesco/ Functional label. The group will perform a new work based on appropriated vocal text sources. Catera will also perform material from his forthcoming Harsh House Cd Process, Object, intuition.

Acclimate and ConDemek performed together at The Experiences Festival in Paris two years ago and also in Flint Michigan during ConDemek's recent tour. Footage from the Flint performance appears in the upcoming Harsh House videotape release The Chaos Chronicles. Both this tape and Catera's CD will be available free of charge the night of the performance.
